Credential your workforce before the inspector does.

Your DCC license requires documented training. Most operators respond with sign-off sheets. CCOI operators respond with verifiable credentials — role-specific, examination-based, publicly searchable for life.

Why It Matters

Three things a CCOI credential does for your operation.

A certificate of completion is a liability. A CCOI credential is documentation — specific, examination-based, publicly verifiable. There is a material difference when the DCC inspector opens the training log.

I

Regulator-defensible records.

Every credential and every CE hour is exportable in the formats DCC, CDPH, CDTFA, and Cal/OSHA accept. Training documentation becomes the fastest audit response you have. When a compliance inspector requests evidence of worker training, your answer is a URL and a printed report — not a binder of sign-off sheets that may or may not match your current roster.

II

Role-calibrated competence.

CCOI examinations are built from job task analysis panels of practicing California operators. The credential certifies that the holder passed a scored examination against a published standard — not that they sat through a slide deck. Budtenders, METRC Operators, Compliance Officers, and DRPs each sit a distinct examination with domain-specific pass thresholds. A credential issued to a wrong-role worker does not exist in the CCOI system.

III

Labor differentiation.

Credentialed employees are materially harder to replace. Operators report lower turnover among workers who hold CCOI designations — partly because the credential is theirs to keep regardless of employer, and partly because the exam gave them a competence baseline worth defending. The credential travels with the worker, which means your investment in their training is visible to them as professional development, not just compliance overhead.

How It Works

Three paths to a credentialed team.

CCOI enrollment is designed around how cannabis operations actually run — shift workers, managers, DRPs, and compliance leads all on different schedules and roles. You enroll by credential and role; workers self-register and schedule within the window you set.

  1. 01

    Choose the credential.

Eight role credentials covering every core operation: Budtender (CCOI-BUD), METRC Operator (CCOI-MO), Compliance Officer (CCOI-CO), Cultivation Manager (CCOI-CM), Manufacturing Lead (CCOI-ML), Inventory Controller (CCOI-IC), Designated Responsible Party (CCOI-DRP), and Distribution Coordinator (CCOI-DC). Operators enroll by role, not by name — your roster fills in as workers register. Multi-credential bundles are available for workers who hold or seek more than one designation. Each credential has its own examination blueprint, CE requirement schedule, and renewal cycle documented in the public standard.

  2. 02

    Workers study and sit.

Each worker receives a candidate packet, access to the CE catalog, and a scheduled exam window. Exams are delivered digitally via the CCOI assessment portal; DRP and Compliance Officer credentials require proctored delivery through an approved remote proctoring service. Most workers complete the full process in 30–45 days of part-time preparation using the CCOI study materials, which are included in the enrollment fee. Workers who do not pass on the first attempt receive a detailed domain score report and one complimentary retake within 90 days. Pass rates and retake policies are published in the examination handbook.

  3. 03

    Credentials issue, records go live.

On passing, the credential issues within 24 hours. The worker's designation appears immediately in the public verification registry at greenstategroup.com/learn/verify, indexed by name, credential code, and employer. Your operator dashboard shows current standing — active, lapsed, or in-progress — for every credentialed member of your team. CE completion hours update in real time. When a worker changes employers, their credential record follows them; your dashboard reflects only currently affiliated workers.

Enrollment Options

Individual worker or full-team rollout.

CCOI enrollment scales from a single Budtender to a multi-site operator with 200 workers. Both paths use the same examination standard and issue the same publicly verifiable credential — the difference is in scheduling, pricing, and account management.

Enroll a worker.

Single-worker enrollment for new hires and spot-certification of existing staff. You provide the worker's name, role credential, and email address. CCOI handles the candidate packet, exam scheduling, and credential issuance. The worker receives direct communication from CCOI throughout the process; you receive dashboard visibility from the moment they register. Designed for operations that credential on a rolling basis as staff are hired or promoted into compliance-sensitive roles.

Enterprise enrollment.

Multi-worker, multi-site, multi-credential. Volume pricing, operator dashboard, custom rollout schedule, and dedicated account management. Designed for operators credentialing an entire department, shift, or site at once — including onboarding cohorts at newly licensed locations. Enterprise accounts receive priority scheduling for proctored exams, bulk export of training records in DCC-compatible format, and advance notice of examination standard updates that may affect renewal cycles. Minimum five workers; no maximum.

Verification

Your team's standing, live.

Every credentialed worker's designation, issue date, expiration, CEU status, and standing appears in the public registry in real time. Share the URL with an inspector instead of a binder. Your operator dashboard provides the same view plus enrollment pipeline, CE completion tracking, and bulk export.

Get Started

The DCC inspection is already scheduled.

California cannabis operators with documented, verifiable training records resolve inspection findings faster, at lower cost, and with measurably less license risk. Sign-off sheets create legal exposure; examination-based credentials create a defensible evidentiary record. CCOI is the documentation that holds up when it counts — on the day of inspection, during a license renewal review, or in a Notice to Comply response.
